Fear of Death

I'm so terrified of dying that it's taken over my life. This pandemic has forced me to confront my mortality and I am beyond terrified of there being nothingness after we die. I just want to life and enjoy my life but it feels like a creeping weight around my shoulders that ruins everything I do. How do I find peace...

I have this same paralyzing fear and can totally sympathize with you. I have severe health anxiety, which causes severe panic attacks almost every single day. I am constantly in fear that I am going to have a brain aneurysm, blood clots, a stroke, or a heart attack. I only think about things that will kill me, and I think about it all day. It’s ruining my life, and it’s gotten particularly bad during the pandemic. Each time I hear about some thing happening to somebody, I think it’s wrong with me. The only thing that has helped me is coming here to see that there are people that are like me and that I am not crazy.

Both of these replies are so me. I have constant anxiety about having a heart attack and it’s ruining my life.

I too have this fear of death that has been creeping at the back of my head since young. Even at young age, I had the vision where I might have ended up in nothingness after death, and it scares me so much as I will no longer exist in the world forever then. What happened to all my memories and the people I love? I do not want to lose any of them at all no matter how much time passes. It terrifies me that sometimes I do get chills at midnight and even cry to sleep thinking about it. Normally I will try to just brush the thoughts aways but back in my head I know I have not overcome this fear, which I would say is my number 1 fear that I've been running away from my whole life. Hope to hear some advice to break out of it.

Open up your soul for the bigger picture. Seek beyond what you can see with your psychical senses. Learn to be okay with stillness, because in stillness you'll find answers. Fear cannot remain where there is love and true love melts away any fear. Pour love into your own being and watch how fear will slowly turn into something positive. Believe in beautiful things, also after death. Yes. :) Your faith will fill up your soul and you will find inner joy and calmness.
