Feeling useless
I have been off work for over a year due to anxiety. I know that the longer you're out of work the harder it is to go back. I applied for a part time job and got an interview. However, I woke up in the early hours on the morning of the interview in a panic and crying about it. I never used to be this bad, and I don't know why I am now. I was enthusiastic about the job until I had to go and do it and interact with people. Our life is so much harder because I'm not earning any money and I'm left feeling useless, embarrassed and pathetic; especially because my partner is working a job he doesn't like but just gets on with it. I'm better than this. I try to talk myself up and say I'm going to just bite the bullet and deal with it and not let the anxiety rule me, but it still does. I'm lost. I've had counselling and been on medication and nothing seems to work. I don't know where to turn from here.
Hi @MadRed
Really am so sorry that you're feeling this way {{{hugs}}} I've been though a similar situation years ago and came to the conclusion it was social anxiety but that doesn't help when you need a job. You know you're capable of it and more, but when faced with it, it's so hard to go through with it. I hope that by talking with others here you'll find the confidence to get through and take a job that you feel suits you and helps get the best from you.
Best wishes
