Fighting
My friend has a really manipulative boyfriend, he's possessive over her and uses "love" to keep her there. When she tried to leave one time he told everybody she'd off herself. I've known this guy for two weeks at most and he's tried to ruin my friendship with her three times. Last night I got irritated and talk smack about him in the GC he WASN'T in. My friend got mad He wasn't there with the rest of us and she added him. Since then she and I have been "fighting" she stopped using my nicknames and is calling me by my actual name. All I got was an "I'm going to bed. Night ____" If this situation couldn't get MORE complicated, I'm in love with her and she knows it. She calls me cute nicknames as I do her, it's a joke to both of us. But her boyfriend is claiming I'm a threat to their relationship. I fear he's gotten into her head and I've lost the one person I connected with for the first time in a while.
@ThatAvocadoCat I have a lot of things in my head about this rn... I'm afraid you can't really do that much for her if she's not willing to look at the situation from your perspective. But more importantly, what do other friends/ family say about this relationship? Do other people feel the same way about the BF?
@Jenim three other people have vouched that he's a bad guy. They say he's manipulative, possessive, and just off in general. I apologized to him 1-1 a few minutes ago because I didn't want to lose her.
Hey there. Well... I think it could be possible that she has told him or gave him an inkling about your feelings for her.... Or maybe he sensed it on his own.
Have the others told her what they feel about the BF? Sometimes the one who calls a spade a spade becomes the bad guy.
Either way, at the end of the day the choice is hers. If she can't listen to reason, I think there is not much you or anyone else can do. I know you don't want to lose her, but I don't see her sharing that sentiment. Maybe she does... But she seems so dependent on the boyfriend.
@Jenim everybody else has. but they're no longer friends with her because they said something
The boyfriend sounds trouble. I am sorry you have to gp through this. I know you have feelings for her and want what's best for her... Is there anyone else besides her BF that she listens to?
@ThatAvocadoCat
Hi ThatAvocadoCat!
@EternalBubbles3345 he told my friend I emailed him telling him to stay away from her. Which I did not. My friend messaged me going @ me. "I hate you. I'll always hate you." etc. then once I showed her that never happened we were cool. Two days later she messages me saying her bf told her I'm taking her away from him etc. Then the last thing he did was start a fight about how I'm always rude to him and how I hate him, We've never really talked 1-1 so-
Hearing "I hate you" from someone you love must have hurt a lot. I'm glad you were able to show your friend the truth and patch things up with her. How long have you two been friends?
Wow, he does seem very determined to ruin your friendship. Do you know if he's tried to cause problems between her and any of her other friends?
