Hi everyone, I'm not very good at this sort of thing but I can use some people to talk to who might understand what I'm going through.

I am currently going through the worst spell of my life with anxiety, I am not a bad person but I've made some mistakes in life especially when I was younger teen/young adult sort of age.

I was a heavy user of alcohol and illegal drugs coupled with guilt and I attempted an overdose. Many many years have gone by and I managed to change my life I'm now in my early 30's and have a beautiful family, 2 young daughters who are my whole world and an amazing partner who I never thought I'd be so lucky to have. My problem is that the mistakes in my past are really troubling me and over the past 2 years it's been gradually building up, I've always had anxiety issues but this just seems a bit full on, my anxiety is crushing me, it's affecting my motivation, emotions, concentration everything! I'm not eating and I keep trying to throw up ( which isn't working due to not eating) has anyone been this way and what advice can you give me to try and move forward.

Thanks

@easyJackfruit3618 I can actually empathize quite a lot! I was a wild child as a teen and young adult. Now Im married with 3 kids. It seems almost surreal. I try hard not to let the past haunt me because nothing extremely immoral or illegal happened and nothing impacts my current life however its hard to rectify those bad decisions with who I am now.

when it happens to me I always ask myself how does that impact my life now? Or did I already learn a lesson from this?

@easyJackfruit3618 I'm glad you're here and that you've reached out, that alone sometimes is the scariest step to take.

I tend to dwell on things for too long myself, some days I still find myself looking back at choices I've made and it's difficult at times to not beat myself up for those choices.

For me, talking about those choices to others has helped me a lot. It keeps me from bottling everything up and letting that anxiety eat me from the inside out. But it's important to remember that you cannot let your past define you. It might have lead you to being who you are today, but we're not our pasts.

I also try to think about why my past is bothering me, what triggered me to think about a particular choice. I try to find the motivation behind remembering it and then look for an alternative way to handle the actual motivation rather than dwell on the choice.

I hope you're able to eat something soon. <3

Good, I'm glad you're at least eating something. It's really important to eat, and I know how hard it is to try and eat when you wanna puke.

Has talking helped?

@Nyxandria

Somewhat yes, I've always had trouble talking to people face to face but using 7cups has helped me and I'm going to continue using it. Thanks for taking the time to talk to me.
