Friends
Finding it kinda harder to be social in college because I've been online for about a year. Any advice to a anxious 19 years old girl?
Let's be friends and chat :)
Hi!
I totally understand the struggle of making friends post a year online.
The way I'm trying to be social is by initiating study groups. It is super nerve raking and I don't know if it will even work, but it's got me talking to people even before it's even happened.
Striking up small talk with your seat partners can also be a good headway for a more in depth conversation. This can also give you a partner for any projects or assignments you might get.
This has worked for me because although it feels like you're stressing and might feel like everything you do is not normal, that feeling is probably felt by quite a few people in your class. Sometimes starting up a conversation, even if it becomes awkward, can help break the ice in the classroom.
Of course this might not work for everyone and really it will just take time for everyone to get used to being in person and start talking to each other during class about how bad the teacher is, how little time you had to study for the midterm or how nobody can understand what the unit is about.
I hope my insight can maybe help a bit, but try to remember that the smallest and most random interactions can lead to more socializing sometimes.
@swanballet just keep calm am stay positive and really appreciate what lifes gives you.
