Health Anxiety & Panic Attacks Sums Up My Typical Day!
Hello,
I'm new here and I'm hoping to chat, learn, and vent in order to deal with my own anxiety. For the last 2 years I have had what's labeled as health anxiety but was once referenced as hypochondria. You name the the disease and I have it... (in my mind.) Just a few months ago my left arm was hurting and my chest hurt, went into a panic attack and had to go to the ER.... learned that nothing was wrong after multiple tests and bloodwork. Every day I feel I have something going on but often it's my chest, arm, and head. I have been prescribed meds for the anxiety and I have not taken any because it scared me and it gives me anxiety on what is it going to do to my body, will there be side effects, will it work, will I forever be in meds?
anyine else experience health anxiety? There is so much more to it and my thumbs would be sore if I rant on the last 2 years of this for me. But I'd love to hear stories, coping methods, and to meet others!
Sincerely,
Sad Riddled Anxiety Individual
Do y'all having more anxiety by listening to others??
@AlixiaBC haha maybe you should have made a separate post for this :p do you feel anxiety when listening to others?
@Crpull1 I personally have a friend that goes through extreme anxiety when veins are shwon or when she sees other's veins and what has helped her is EMDR, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. I do not know if this will work for you, however her therapist reprogrammed how she thought of veins and now she is happier than ever. I also know that CBT, Cognitive Behavorial Therapy, has helped a numerous amount of people by helping them reevaluate their thinking.
I feel that your health anxiety is causing you a lot of stress and fears and that's okay. I feel that our anxiety usually stems from our past or something within us, but I am in no way a doctor so take what I say with a grain of salt. However, all of us have our own struggles and I used to and still have occurences of existencial OCD where I drain myself with what ifs, but there is power in not taking ourselves too seriously. We all are a little crazy and maybe that's a good thing
