Heightened Anxiety

Background: I suffer from severe panic attacks and generalized anxiety. So I just recently started an antidepressant about five days ago, and so far the side effects have been brutal! I was warned that they would last about 1-2 weeks before the antidepressant starts to kick in. One of the side effects is heightened anxiety, which seems to last all day, every day. Add that to another side effect of derealization, having the sensation that everything is a dream or not really happening. So the last few days have been literal hell for me. My anxiety is thru the roof and I can’t seem to relax. I meditate, exercise, practice breathing techniques, music therapy, and it all helps to a certain extent, but the anxiety is still there. I feel like I’m losing my mind from this. I don’t know how people have went thru this when starting antidepressants but I was told that it is one of the main reasons people quit in the beginning of treatment.

I need tips, if anyone has been in this situation or if anyone has any tips on easing constant anxiety and or panic attacks. Please. I am desperate.

@Vic2090 when this happened to me I contacted the doctor and informed her of all symptoms and asked for advice. Sometimes I got my medication changed depending how bad the symptoms get. Everybody reacts different to meds and its good that you are keeping track.

At times I found only fast walking or a swim would help me. Hang in there it takes patience but do seek advice
