How I (usually) manage my Anxiety. What works for you?
Hey all,
While my main diagnosis is (C)PTSD, it has a fun neat bleed-over effect into anxiety. As such, I've endeavored, especially over the last few years, to get more of a handle on the anxiety-side of CPTSD.
Anyway, here's a bit of a rundown of my regimen:
1. Mindfulness
2. Meditation
3. Lexapro
4. Prioritizing a consistent sleep schedule (and as always, this one needs improvement)
5. Listening to music
I imagine there's more that I'm forgetting, but those things definitely constitute my top 5 in terms of my own personal approach with anxiety.
How do you all deal with your anxiety, and do you have any sort of tried-and-true regimen that you use to combat it?
@sereneSunset26
One thing that is super helpful to me is to exercise! Just getting our bodies moving and getting those positive brain chemicals (endorphins) flowing can really be super helpful,

There's a lot of things that could be added to this list, but yeah, I really do need to be more consistent with my exercise routine (as in, start it again). It's not as if I'm an entirely sedentary person, but I have a bad habit (for exercise) of letting the thought go as soon as it comes in.
What has kept you consistent with your exercise routine?
Hi - I’d add :
Talking to friends (or even a Listener on this site)
Making Lists of things I’m thankful for
Avoiding Alcohol
Films and Theatre (happy stuff only)
Writing
….there’ll be more…..
@BryanM99
Those are all really good! I have a couple friends who also avoid alcohol to manage their anxiety. And making lists to inspire gratitude in ourselves is a great way to make sure that we stay in a positive headspace.
It goes without saying (and is so obvious overall), but feeling and being positive (especially in the hardest of circumstances) is so much more healthy than falling into the (at times) easier choice of feeling or being negative.
