Initial Doc Visit today
Big news. I'm visiting my doctor today for the first time over my anxiety issues. They have been prominent and consistent for a long time, but it was like almost background noise. Not enough was really there to really deal with it I guess. At least that was what I thought. I have always felt short of breath. I felt suffocated, like I was drowning half the time; panicked over absolutely nothing. But to me, it made no sense to go to a doctor over this. I didn't feel like it showed anything - I was overreacting. I know, I'm realizing now I was all in my head and wrong. Nearly two weeks ago, I had my first anxiety attack. It made all of it very real. I made a doctor's appt and will be seeing someone today at 2:30 (est). I joined 7 Cups right after the episode just to have something to help curb all of the feelings now at the forefront of my mind, stop myself from getting to the point I had another attack. I don't want another attack. Joining is what helped me realize everything I was feeling, thinking, every bit of it was totally real and absolutely normal for my condition. Today is my first step to getting on the path to help right it..... and I'm terrified. This is a very well known doctor I've gone to for years, my young sons have gone to for all their lives. I do trust him, absolutely. I do agree with his views on medical things. And yet I'm scared. Will he listen to me? Will I get the help I truly need? Am I being rational? Irrational?

Your amazing, you know that right x
@professionalPerspective60
Aww, thank you. He is gonna start me on meds and is getting me on with an amazing counselor. He made sure I was fully listening when he told me I'm not crazy. Trying not to cry. I'm actually getting help!!
Well done on taking this step! Living with anxiety can be horrible, but it's also very managable; just need to find the right treatment for you. It's totally understandable to be nervous before seeing a doctor -- I think most people are. Just let him know. Right down anything if it helps. It's his job to listen and show compassion, and hopefully this will be the first step to you feeling better. :)
I'm glad to read that 7cups has been helpful to you. <3 Please let us know how the appointment goes Totoro!

Im pretty much in the same boat as you, having had symptoms for a couple years now but always pushing them to the side, until my first anxiety attack, also just a couple weeks ago. It's scary having it all crash to forefront. I have an appointment with my doctor on the 2nd and have the same fears you do. But taking this step is the first in healing. I'm sending you all the love and good vibrations I can muster doll!!! You got this!! We got this!!! Stay strong!!! Much love ❤️

*hugs* I feel you. But after the visit I had today with my Dr, I want you to know it will all be okay. There are compassionate, caring Dr's, and they will help. It's finding the right one. It's finding the bravery to speak out. It's fighting for your future even when it feels like there's not much of one there.
I'm there for you, Rose
