I was recently fired from my work

I was recently fired from my work --together with two other people--, and I am loosing the ground under my feet. I feel I am not good enough to find a new job, and I spend endless nights worrying about the future. It seems impossible that I will find a job as good as the one I lost, and I am dissapointed with myself for not having the necessary skills to succeed. Bills will start to pile up, I won't be able to support my daughter, my future looks dreadful and dark. Where to I start to gain some confidence and get rid of the constant anxiety.

(sorry for my English)

@Isiliel

Oh no! I am sorry to hear that you have lost your job. We can definitely feel that our lives are changing for the negative when an unexpected change happens. It sounds like you are currently "catastrophizing." We use that term when someone's mind is consistently running the worst case scenarios through our heads. While there are probably going to be some negative things that are going to happen as a result of losing your job, there are some things that you are still in control of. Maybe it can be helpful to start asking yourself questions that you know the answers to, and focusing on what you *can* do. Do you have savings? How many months can you support your lifestyle before you are in true financial crisis? Do you qualify for unemployment or a similar program? Are there any social services related programs you might qualify? Do you have friends or family that could help? Answering these questions for yourself can help start get you moving in a direction towards things you *can* control so you can start to feel more empowered. All the best to you.

Thank you for your response, Andrea!
Indeed I am catastrophizing at the moment, like you said. I need to get out of this vicious circle and start planning ahead.
Your post gave me a place to start. Thank you!
