Job stress mixed with anxiety
Hello. Hope someone reads this. ):
so I just started my first job ever last week and it sucks, honestly. I get anxious every day, every minute. I work for a really popular supermarket as a cashier. I was supposed to be training the other day, I had this girl who was telling me how everything works but all of the sudden she left! And I couldn’t leave the register unattended so I had to keep going with the little training I had. At first I thought I did great, but then I was staring to feel overwhelmed. Thank god my break came, unfortunately, when I came back, managers put me again in a register, by myself. I felt a little nervous, but I had to keep going. Turns out, one of the customers complained because I messed up BIG TIME. I made a bunch of mistakes, nothing that can’t be fixed but I still felt horrible, anxious, overwhelmed. So today, like always, I like to overthink and be obsessed about stupid thoughts. So now, im legit scared of making mistakes. Im doubting EVERYTHING I’ve learned so far. Im scared to go tomorrow because probably some other customers complain or something. Im scared to be yelled at ):
i can’t with my life anymore. I feel like im not going to learn anything and im gonna be terrible at my job. What can I do? ):

Thank you for sharing this with us! I can relate to you. When I was starting my work, it also felt terrible. I was doing mistakes, and then I started to be afraid to do anything because it would be a costly mistake. Moreover, I was left there alone at the office and I felt frustrated and useless. This is my first job, so I did not have much experience, but I noticed that most people feel the same way when having a new job (regardless of whether it is their first). This is also what my family told me and it turned out to be true! It took me about 5 months to start feeling comfortable and secure. I think the time it takes you to get used to it and learn is individual, but do not give up. It really gets better and the mistakes are normal at the beginning.
@gentleAvOcadoO Congratulations on your first job, it can be extremely stressful and scary starting out ❤️

Thank you for sharing this. I understand that you are anxious due to the events that happened during the first day your work. I can relate to it very well. But remember this: the best days are yet to come. No one can achieve greatness in any field in a single day. In addition, as you said, since the mistakes you did are not that much devastating, I believe you can come to understand that you will do better in the upcoming days and climb the ladder of life with confidence.
