Hi. I've actually been in the shoes of your friend. I suffer from anxiety, over-thinking and low self-esteem that makes the two worse. I have a close friend who I'd pour out myself to. She was very supportive. IS very supportive. However, I did know that I was burdening her. Or I could feel that what I was doing was not healthy to her. She set her boundaries with me which I completely respect her and appreciate her for. When she was tired with me, she'd tell me she needs a break from me. And I'd give her that break and respect her boundary. Slowly, I realised that if I needed help, I couldn't make my friend my emotional dumpster. I can still reach out to her when I'm feeling down but at the end of the day, my well-bieng is my own responsibility. I started (still working on it) trying to take matters into my own hands, whether its through therapy or soothing myself. I still have a long way to go, but you owe it to yourself, and to your friend, that you are honest. I think your friend will understand. Try to be kind when you do set those boundaries but there's nothing wrong with setting them in order to protect yourself. Your mental health is important too.
