My First Step Towards Self Esteem
It's been a rough year.
I'm a person who has extremely low esteem since my early teenage years. Extremely introverted, self critical, pessimistic, obese and recently a college failure .
If you asked me how i was doing a couple months ago. I'd describe it as almost suicidal, extremely demoralized and lost in a foreign country.
Today was my first step towards a brighter future. While i missed the few friends i had made in college, today marking the first day of a new semester i am not part of, i can say I am relieved.
The extreme stress i felt from academic pressure has dissipated, the nervous breakdowns, panick attacks have all but subsided.
Today, I looked in the mirror and felt happy after what seems like years. I've made a pledge to fix my mental and physical health first and I finally saw a small but noticable change in my physical appearance. To put that into perspective, i have BMI of 33. The highest okay number is 25. I have never looked good, never felt confident, always increased in clothing sizes.
Today is my first step towards a greater self esteem. So, i write this hoping that everyone who reads it, feels a little better, realizes that you're never out of opportunities and that life has a lot more to offer, you can't give up during the tough times because you need to live for the good times, it's worth it.
