My SO keeps almost getting fired. What do I do?

My significant other has almost gotten fired from every job he's had for the last 7-8 years. He usually gets his warnings around 2 years in and starts looking for a new job.

He is a good guy but doesn't focus and can be absent minded at home. Probably the same at work.

I don't know what I can do to help him other than calm him and help him find a new job. But this cycle needs to break. He's putting our financial security in jeopardy and causing himself stress. This takes a toll on our relationship too.

What can I do??

@brightTree5008 I can't imagine the stress this situation has been putting on you, your SO, and your relationship in general. I think that it's great that you are thinking proactively and trying to find a solution before your SO actually gets fired. I hope you never have to go through that but it's great to have a plan in place just in case.

Problem is, I don't know if there is anything you can do to change their attitude at work. It might be worth communicating your fears with them so they can better understand why you don't want them to keep looking for new jobs. It's not unreasonable of you to want financial security from both of you in the relationship so you can prepare for the next stage/adventure (starting a family, moving somewhere else, going on vacation, etc).

Another thing that might help ease your worries is to set aside extra money each paycheck (if its affordable to you) so your savings are prepared for the worst case scenario (your SO losing their job).

I hope this helps. I haven't been in this situation before so I don't know if there are other solutions out there but I can feel your frustration when I read your post. I hope things have been better for your SO and their current job since you originally posted this.
