My mom gives me anxiety
My mom just moved in with my boyfriend and me. She is a jobless ex drug addict who left her boyfriend, whome she was living with. Ever since she told me a month ago that she needed to leave him, my anxiety went through the roof. My boyfriend and her don't see eye to eye, but they're cordial none the less. I'm just hoping that someone could give me some tips on how to not let this situation thats going on riddle me with anxiety.
@Dreamworld1996 Do you know what specifically is spiking your anxiety? Is that your mom is jobless? Are you worried about her ex? Are you worried about her relapsing? Is it the relationship between your partner and your mother?
Understanding what is causing the anxiety will give you more insight on how to combat it. If it's the stressed relationships within the home, maybe attend family counseling with all three people present? If it's money troubles because your mother doesn't have a job, maybe it's time to have a conversation about what you need from her? Hopefully this isn't a sore subject in the household or a axiety spiking conversation to prepare for. But it wouldn't be unreasonable to have a conversatin with your mother about what each person needs in this new living situation. (She might need more emotional support and you might need more space or more money to cover the bills) Despite what the issue might be, the best way to deal with the anxiety is to put it out there. Opening up and sharing these conversations with the people you live with might relieve some of the pressure you've been holding on to alone.
