Need advice
first hello i'm looking for an outsiders honest opinion with my current work issue. so to start in august i came back for my final semester in college, since i was just finishing up school i decided to help out with the college softball team i played for. i started volunteering my time for free. and since i didnt have any jobs lined up in my field yet after graduation i decided to stay and help the rest of the year. being i was helping the same team i played for the coaching staff gave me the decision to either be apart of the coaching staff or be a team manager. each came with benefits and draw backs. Being a member on the staff i was told i would have freedoms i didnt have as a player (one mentioned was on road trips they go out and drink) but i wouldnt be able to hang out with the team(all my friends) due to a conflict of interest. however i felt as though it was my time to be an adult and also be viewed as one so i chose to be a staff member. then when it came time in the spring i realized financially i would not be able to afford working for free so our head coach my boss arranged for me to be a GA which comes with pay. the pay is for 20hrs per week which roughly covers my rent and nothing else. so i took out a loan. i work around 60hr weeks and get paid for 20. i didnt complain and tried to manage a work life balance. however i began to feel overworked and under appreciated. this past weekend we traveled and ended up staying in the same town as my girlfriend. i talked to my boss about going with her and her family after the games to which she responded okay thats fine i dont have to worry about you like that which i took as you're not a player you're an adult. so after the games i did go with her as planned however on the second night there i get a call from my boss asking where i was and i better get my butt back to the hotel rn, which are exact words. in that moment she mad me feel like a child. after i requested time speak with her in the morning and she said no we will talk about this monday(today). so today we did talk and she asked what is going on with me and why i felt like i could leave like that. to which i responded perhaps i misunderstood but i was lead to believe from our conversation that i could leave and that as a member of the staff i am able to do what i please in my free time. she said no that's not how things work. i have lost her trust and this is my final strike and after one more she will fire me. she said it was very irresponsible of me and i'm her responsibility and how my parents trust her to make sure i'm safe (i'm 23 and haven't lived at home since i was 18, i paid my own way through school while playing a sport). i come in and do my work everyday i made sacrifices to uphold a commitment to this which isnt in my career field, i took out a loan to stay and i have only been late to work one time due to my alarm not going off that morning which i understand is unacceptable but it was the only case in the 8 months working and 4 years playing i was late. other members of the staff have been late in repeated instances. she said i broke curfew (which doesn't apply to coaches bc i know for a fact they would go out) additionally i believed i would be speaking to just her when in fact she had other members of the staff in the room. it made me feel cornered. i voiced the sacrifices i have made to be here and how i expected the freedom and privileges i was made to believe. to which they responded they make sacrifices as well. overall they made me feel dumb for the way i was thinking and said they feel as though my priorities aren't right due to the fact when i do get free time i try to spend it with my girlfriend, she's important to me and i don't get much time due to me working during the week, and weekends and only getting one off day.
