New Onset Anxiety
Hello all,
Im still fairly new to this app and im trying to figure things out so please bare with me. I have never really had anxiety in my life, however my sister and my mother have severe anxiety. I felt like I could never relate to them on a certain level because I never really understood exactly what they were feeling. Well, until now.
I had a very bad semester at my University. I dealt with a lot of loss in my family and a lot of personal stress this semester and it definitely showed in my performance. I did not realize that this would end in having an academic suspension from my university. This has shaken my entire world up. I grew up with parents who were very adamant that when youre young, there is no room for failure because that just means youre lazy. My dad always told me and my siblings that your plan should be that you go to college right out of high school and you get through it to get on with your life, so I went into university expecting everything to go as planned. I did not expect for it to be so difficult for me, and now that im in this perdicament, there is no way I can tell my parents. I cannot shake the feeling of disappointment. I have never felt this way in my life. I feel like I could cry or vomit on the spot at any time. I feel like a failure and I feel very insecure about my career and life going on. I dont know where to turn or what my endgame is anymore and any type of advice or encouragement would help.
Until we talk again,
OC
@nightworm220 Hi, thanks for reaching out! please don't stay alone with that, can you find someone to talk to at the university, anyone, a student, a teacher, to explain how you're trying to adjust in many aspects? the losses and stresses are human things, quite hard to deal with, and the pressure, and the novelty! everybody needs to know you tried hard and don't want to give up, that's what matter, not the fact that you haven't suceeded yet, which means nothing apart from that it was not the right time for you yet! all my wishes for you for the pressure to go down.
