Over thinking and fear

April 26th, 2017

Loving the supportive community here. My story is that I was devastated when my ex walked out on me after 12 years. I finally got thru that, am remarried now to someone I love and trust. My new spouse struggles with depression and has been in a funk for about 2 months now. Yes, she is in therapy. She sleeps a lot, has no interest in much, we have no sex life, just kind of exist together. She assures me it isn't me, and she is still affectionate and loving. My problem is that this has brought up a huge issue for me. Because my ex withdrew like this before leaving me, I find myself living in a state of fear, just wondering when or if she's going to leave me, if she still loves me, etc. I don't know how to stop these negative thoughts and it drives me crazy.

That's my story.

Is your partner on any medication? a huge side effect or anti depressant meds is that they kill your sex drive and zombie you out a lot. I feel that maybe having a chat with her about this would be helpful if you havent already! I understand your fears and anxieties around her withdrawing from you but it honestly sounds like the depression and not really her.

Feel free to chat to me in private if you wouold like :) Sunshine Kitty <3 x

I understand how you're feeling. My partner of 7 years has been going though depression as well, and it can be very dificult on both sides. I alos struggle with anxiety in general and when he is in a bad shape, it causes my anxiety to go waaay up. I found that sharing my own struggle with him is helpful for both of us, and also just reaching out to a listener here to vent when I don't want to burden him anymore is extremly helpful.

Just hold in there, if your parter is in therapy, they are doing their best they can.

@NerdyGirl1124 Hello :) Hey, what you're feeling for what's going on is completely normal, however, what you described are not traits of a healthy relaionship. Maybe you need to try and focus on working in communication with your spouse and focus on reducing your fears and anxiety so that when the time comes when you have to face off against a problem as a couple or by yourself, you're strong and prepared. Couple's therapy might be helpful, so would be many other options I'm sure you can come up with. Stay strong and if you're ever in need of a private listening session, hit me up on 7cups. MUCH LOVE!
