Overwhelmed with Anxiety

Hello,

I am new to this site and needing help.

I am in my mid-40s and I have an issue with my anxiety. The anxiety builds and then I get locked in 24/7 with unbearable worry and thoughts. I am currently in week 3 of this, and I don't know how it will get better this time.

It usually triggers with something health-related. This time it was falling on ice and knocking out my free teeth. In addition, there is a concussion and a hurt wrist. I wish I had taken time off to recover, but I started a new job in January and if I was gone for any period of time then I could be released from my contract. The job itself has been extremely hard as it is setting up a new program for immigrants and it has various funders including Federal. It's been difficult because all the managers above me have yelled and complained, and I really have no idea at the moment why I was hired despite what I've done in the past. This Monday is my first day with the students (adults) and I am teaching things I have never taught before in a teaching style not comfortable with me. I know it will go bad.

I can't stop dry heaving. I can't stop thinking about the worries and stress. I can't stop thinking about how I will disappoint everyone. I have never quit a job but this time I might. It was people who knew me from before who brought me into this job and the overwhelming feeling of my disappointing has gotten to me. I've never been yelled at work much fewer people I knew from before. I can't quit the job unless I have another in its place. I don't have the strength to look.

I am on Effexor and the doctor gave me 25mg of Seroquel for sleep. It leaves me very tired the next day; unfortunately, if I don't take it ... I don't sleep.

I have been trying the breathing techniques but I can't get them to work. I know exposing myself to the work on Monday and all of next week will be a way to overcome what I am feeling.

Until then ... I dry heave and cry. Dry heave and cry. try not to mess up

thank you for reading.

@BruceHarley I can relate to the feelings of overwhelm. That definitely seems to be a feature of anxiety. It just feels like you can't do anything and you feel helpless. I really hope things start to get better for you
