Panic Attack Poem

I've been having a panic attack for the past 5 hours, and I wrote this. I hope you guys like it

Blind

The city glowed like the sparks of a campfire.

It burns with an intensity that reminds me

Of a girls eyes as they light up, twinkling in the moonlight.

It seems beautiful, full of hope,

A giant residency with only one food store.

Me? I own this town.

I carry my heart in my left hand,

And my wallet in the other.

Each hand holds a heavy weight, but I dont mind.

A filled heart and the richest wallet in town…

How could I complain?

One day, a sad girl walks up to me.

Her strut is broken, a pale face,

And her eyes pulled down to the floor, weighted with a heavy burden.

She mustnt bear that burden alone.

My wallet becomes a drop lighter,

But the sparkle in her eye returns.

I watch her skip over the the food store,

Mix the ten I gave her with the identical one in her pocket,

And walk out with the warmth of a meal that I knew from personal experience,

Made all the difference.

This would soon be a common transaction for me.

I quickly became the town investor.

Men, women and children…

I paid to restore the twinkle in their eyes.

Day by day, the weight of my wallet in my right hand grew lighter,

Making the pull on my left hand grow relatively.

I sold my luxuries and replaced them with cheaper,

More normal belongings.

I was more like them, and it gave me more to invest with.

All was good until I realized my wallet no longer held any weight at all…

While my left arm sank lower and lower,

Nearly impossible to hold anymore.

I was poor and hungry.

I was spent.

Sitting on the curb, I watched.

The city glowed, but now everyones eyes twinkled as well,

There were no more broken struts besides my own.

My cash now distributed amongst the masses,

I now needed to ask for myself.

To feed me, and to balance out the weight of the anchor I now held in my left hand.

But no one I helped had any interest in a reverse transaction.

They forgot their roots, and I was left

To lay, and watch hundreds of

Twinkling, but blind, eyes.
