Panic & Depression

August 23rd, 2016

This is the first time I am actually participating on this site. I have read through a lot of the different forums and everyone's personal experiences help to give me perspective and realize that I am not alone dealing with this. This morning has been particularly hard for me. Over the last three years I have been working with my doctor to find the right regimen to treat my anxiety. I have always been a worrier and my job can be extremely demanding, especially since my boss has battled thyroid cancer and been diagnosed with multiple autoimmune diseases. I put a lot of pressure on myself to keep up on everything: at work and at home. My husband has ocd and add and requires a lot of care and attention. As of last week, I am slowly switching to new medication and have admitted to my doctor that my depression along with my anxiety has been a lot worse than I originally let on. My husband went to the appointment with me and was very supportive and confirmed everything that had been going on, including the almost daily panic attacks. I am glad to have a new plan and medications in place; however, the time it is taking to swich over is taking a toll. This is happening as my boss has been out of town and now that she is back I am terrified that I have let her down in some way. I can't even remember what I did last week. Everything has been such a blur. It feels like I spend so much time just trying to keep myself calm, that I never get anything else done. I am trying to keep breathing and make lists of what I still need to get done without getting too overwhelmed. I'm terrified that a huge breaking point is coming. I can feel it building up. I would take some time off but we really need the money right now. It's all I can do to make it through the work day and drive home. Anything else is out of the question, I'm too exhausted.
