Panic attack while driving
About 6 months ago I had an awful panic attack while driving. I have barely been able to drive since and when I do drive it takes about all my mental energy to deal with the anxiety. I am barely ever able to leave my house because I get so anxious. I used to go out all the time and I used to love driving. I just want my life back. If anyone has any tips it would be greatly appreciated
Hi sj2022. I'm so sorry that you're going through predicament. I recommend that you reach out and get professional therapy to help u deal with your panic attacks. Additionally, I think it's important that you surround yourself with the supportive and empathetic people in your life who lift you up, and stay away from toxic people, who would sabotage your well being. The people we surrounds ourselves with have a huge impact on our day to day emotional/mental states of mind. Lastly, I think it's important that you give yourself the time and leeway to heal and struggle. It's okay if things take time to heal. We can still find ways to find balance and happiness in our lives, even under difficult circumstances. We just need to keep an open mind and try to think outside the box by focusing on understanding the things we can control and can't, and then acting on the things we can control in ways that would benefit us. I hope this helped. All the best! Just hang in there. You can do this.
Good afternoon. I know, it is a pretty difficult situation and many people using meds to stay calm, but most of them are not allowed to use them while driving. So, you can be caught by police. On how to behave in this situation, you should consult with good lawyers. This often happens. So I recommend clicking this link and reading about good lawyers, friend. And of course, you need to find special meds or to stop driving for a time.
Well the 2 replies you got don't seem that helpful lol ones ok saying see a therapist and the other is for a lawyer lol. I personally have been there and done that for your whole situation. Took me over 5-6months to get to a somewhat normal mindset again. It took me realizing that there was noway I could get past it on my own because I kept getting the anxiety and panic attacks randomly from it. I'd suggest making an appointment with a phychiatrist and a therapist. And yes there are medications you can get but it's best to try without meds first and if it's needed, like it was in my situation, then they usually work wonders. Some tips also on your own is to try and drive around empty roads for awhile but slowly so you realize that you have control. Pull over if you don't feel safe and just try to regain yourself. There's also some good numbers out there to call if you do find yourself having terrible anxiety so pull over and try and talk to someone so you get back to a relaxed state of mind. I forgot the numbers but I'm sure if you google something like mental health hotline or something like that you'll find something. Wish you the best! Feel free to message or reply. Try to be optimistic about the situation and know that you'll get back to your usual old self, even if it takes abit.
