Please Tell Me It Gets Better for Good
Hi. I've been struggling with anxiety/depression off and on most of my life. I was doing well on Zoloft for about 4years til the pandemic hit and I went off the rails. Now I'm on plus propranolol or Xanax as needed. I tried Zoloft but it made the anxiety worse. However, I'm thinking of trying it again. I get anxiety attacks and tend to obsess about health worries. I've been meditating, doing inner work and that helps but not enough. I am tired of these anxiety cycles happening over and over. I want to be myself again for good! Hope to find the answer. ..

@Judecat42 Hello Jude! I hope you are doing well. I am sorry to hear that you are going through anxiety cycles. I totally understand and I've been there. I went through a medication change at the beginning of the pandemic too, so I promise you that you're not along. These stressful events can trigger anxiety and cause us to need a change in meds and that's okay! I go through these cycles too, but I think it's normal. Medication is tricky and can be hard to find the right combination for you. It's really great that you are taking care of yourself and doing everything you can to feel your best! Make sure you surround yourself with loved ones and do things you enjoy. Don't let everything be so serious and don't let the world bring you down because everything will be okay! ❤️

I've also struggled with anxiety most of my life. In 2005 I finally saw a psychiatrist who prescribed paroxetine. It worked for 17 years. I had a life I enjoyed. Then last fall it stopped working. It took time and effort to find a new psychiatrist accepting new patients and my insurance. She prescribed sertraline, gradually increasing [the dose], which I'm on now. It's not helping yet, but it's only been about 4 weeks. It took over 8 weeks for paroxetine to kick in, so I'm waiting this out. While trying to find a psychiatrist, I went to other providers and too many med changes in a short time. My advice is to think carefully, do some research at reputable web sites, and talk to your doctor. Good luck. Hang in there. You deserve a good life.
