Poetry is my form of self-expression!
As a means of coping with some of the things I went through as a child I started to write poetry in elementary school. An art teacher of mine took the time to show me how to use release the things I was trying to bury deep inside myself, I am forever greatful to her. I wrote everyday and found it so much easier to channel my emotions in the form of a poem. I would like to share one that I wrote during the time started therapy around age 16/17.
Devotional obsession, grasping my forever protection. To weap when my mind fills with thoughts that seep from the pit of my soul. To much to control. Time waisted on time spent trying to understand how much time it'll take until I break. Break away to be set free only to realize the battle is taking place inside of me. Break away to be brought back to the place I never wanted others to see me. Devotional obsession being my only protection. To seep so deep inside I weap as I now see myself entirely.
This poem was written around the time I started to take responsibility for my own happiness. Although it took few years, I finally found a place a peace. All I hope is that others find there place of peace as well and know that it isn't always easy but it is always possible. Everyone's place of peace is unique!
