Return to work?

Been on sick leave for two months now due to depression. I never thought it would be so long. The anxiety had lessened but it's now increasing again. Both because of the horrific war situation in Europe but also because I have no idea how to return to work.

I was feeling Incapable and low about work before the depression hit badly so am afraid it will return.

Despite now being on two new medications I feel no interest in future or any kind of job, feel no motivation.

On the other hand I'm afraid I'm getting used to isolation and staying in bed all morning...

Maybe your just not ready to go back yet. I read somewhere that depression is your body's way of forcing you to rest. It's a kind of self protection system.

I have a huge trauma background from when I was a child and a few years ago I endured an assault which sent me into a deep depression. I got into therapy and left my job. I couldn't handle all the pressures of work , and dealing with the bully that was targeting me just clinched my decision.

I was a long term employee at my job and I had a years worth of sick time which helped give me time to make a good decision. Sometimes you have to take a leap of faith and that's what I did .

I'm just sharing my story in hopes it may help to know your not alone. Everyone has to decide for their own what's best for their situation.

Ppl put alot of stigma on depression but I think it's a message from within. Mine was telling me it's time to change your life so you can find some happiness. I was miserable before I left in most areas of my life. It forced me to reassess my life.

Put yourself first in all matters. Self-care is key. I hope this helps you 🤞

Best always ABB 💜

@amiableBlackberry92 thanks so much for responding.

I'm sorry you had to go through that experience. I hope therapy helped you with the trauma.

Last year I started Emdr therapy for trauma

As to work the thing is I have wonderful colleagues who are very good friends so I am grateful for that but it is the depression I feel which made me feel Incapable at work last year. But I feel this episode will be longlasting in undermining my capabilities but for practical reasons I cannot not work. As from this month I already won't get paid so I will have to make the decision sooner or later :(
