Selective Mutism

Anyone else with selective mutism who was forced as a young child to speak? I was. I get extreme anxiety when speaking to those I am not close with, and I can speak with forced verbalization- but it is tiring. I am afraid of being yelled at, and it causes me more anxiety than socializing. So I'm in a vicious cycle of not speaking (due to selective mutism) and then speaking because I'm being forced to. ): I was never diagnosed with selective mutism because my parents believed my speech could be fixed by forcing it upon me, it did not, I'm now just chronically anxious with a bad stutter.
