So Tired

I am so exhausted all the time because of my anxiety. I just had a panic attack and it's all over something really silly I feel and no one understands it. I have an attachment to this fictional couple on a show and one of the characters has left so now they are showing the guy moving on with another woman and I can't stand it. I literally get anxious about it and it upsets me because I think the couple I loved belong together. Maybe I want a relationship like they had or something but this is literally making me emotional and I don't know what to do. I just want to get over it and move on but I am so stuck on it and I can't stand feeling this way. I am anxious about other things as well in my life but this is a big one and I don't understand why. I really hate it and I'm exhausted by it. I just want to watch a show like a normal person and now get attached to some fictional couple. That's the thing I know it's not real but I can't help but hate that the guy is with this new woman. I know it's just a show and I have told myself that a million times but I just can't seem to shake it.

Anyone have any advice? I do talk to people about it but most people think I'm crazy because they say it's just a show what's wrong with you?? For some reason this triggers my anxiety and I just want to at least learn how to control it. If anyone has any advice I would love to hear it.

Thanks!

@LGL86

Television and movies draw people in for periods of time, that is why they are so popular. Everyone watches shows and can get feelings for the characters. There are very few of us that can say we have never had an intense emotional reaction to something happening in our favourite show. Most people get over it rather quickly, because it is fiction - but it does resonant longer with others. That is why there are so many shows and blogs and articles about popular tv shows.

Although, it would be highly recommended that you stay away from the dramas, in the future. Really the damage has been done. So you need to deal with the emotions that are associated with the event - yes it is fiction but the emotions that you felt are very real. So use techniques that you normally would when facing a sad break up.

Embrace what you are feeling, acknowledge why you are feeling the way you are, it is far easier to deal with emotions that we are aware instead of trying to shut them off.

@live4logan hi, wow thank you so much for your advice. I do really appreciate it and I'm trying to deal with my emotions but I'm going to avoid the show all together right now and try to distract myself with something that's good for me.
