So lost

Since I was in middle school, I've always had a bit of social anxiety... But then I went to college far from home and I was a super social butterfly. However, I moved back home to go to local community college to transfer to a different school. I feel like being at home has caused me to be more anxious. A lot of this "anxiety" comes from having my mother around who is clinically diagnosed bipolar/schizo. It doesn't help that I google things like "Is mental illness genetic?".. These past weeks, I've been stressed out about overload at school (school is over now). I kept having thoughts about if I were going to be like my mom and I also kept having small memories (positive) pop up in my head. The latter makes me anxious and nervous. Obviously googling things doesn't help as the results always scare me. I'm really just hoping that me recalling memories is nothing more than me being stressed in the past weeks and fhat it'll all go back to normal. I'm self-aware that I can be in my own head sometimes and I don't want to keep freaking my self out... Am I just super stressed? Or is there cause for concern?

@domarmand

When you say your mother was diagnosed "bipolar/schizo" does that mean that she has both mental conditions or is that implying that bipolar mean the same thing to you as "schizo"? Using half the word schizophrenia can seem like a slur to some people. It's good to know the distinctions between each and I wouldn't discourage looking up things about it. Education helps people to understand things which helps them to fear those things less. It may help you feel better to join one of the group chats for bipolar and schizophrenia or ask in the related forums here on 7cups if you haven't already.

As for anxiety overall I felt similar in college feeling like a social butterfly more than I'd ever felt and now that I'm not surrrounded by like minded people all the time anymore I've gone back into my shell and not really liking it. The mindfulness audio under the path menu has been helping ease a lot of the generalized anxiety which in turn helps my social anxiety.
