Stuttering. Life
I'm dealing with stuttering since I was a kid. I had to quit my job to study for an exam...right now I'm unemployed and since this is a very small town, there are no job possibilities just as waiter. People made fun and I got bullied my entire childhood because how I stutter...I m stressed and anxios to apply and be a waiter the way I stutter. I'm not even buying myself a coffee or a meal when I m hungry If I have to talk to the cashier.......
The thing is :
I tried something and I realised that when I m alone and I m speaking to myself with voice ( not just in my head) I m absolutely fluent, no stuttering, perfect breathing pattern. So I assumed that it's psychological connected my problem. Financially I can't afford a therapist with no job...and maybe my problem is psychological ,related to trauma.
I don't know what to do. The days go by and I can't live like this.....
Do sorry. My high school boyfriend stuttered . When he was under stress it was wirst. Breathing exercises helped him
I also know that if you practice speaking with someone patient, your stuttering could get better...send me if you want to talk to someone, i can hear you whenever u want :)
@Ss35 I agree with this. Having people who are patient and calm around you, or just anyone who understands after you tell them really feels best. I don’t stutter but I do teeth chattering and physically tremble on occasions, the best conversations I have was with people I knew were patient but as you mentioned that can be hard if you’re ordering food somewhere. Hmm, I think if you let them know they can understand but that can be a gamble (sometimes people are rude ): ), but for ordering maybe… if you write your order down (when ordering) and pass it to them while also including a note that you stutter, it can lessen the tension trying to tell them to begin with? Just an idea. I hope you find something that makes you more comfy, and works for you! Much love,
@PatrickGester I can understand how hard that can be sometimes! But talking to someone who is calm and patient does really help! Once you're confident about your self nothing can stop you (;
