Tangled ball of anxiety

My ex cheated on me, but i feel i deserve it for being selfish, but i was sick and i still am unwell. I helped him after we broke up because he was sick. However he died just 6 weeks taking care of him from acute cancer. It was a traumatic experience.

I'm afraid I will never find the guy I want . . . I feel I will be alone forever. It's even harder with anxiety and trust issues. My health and my hormones are all over that place. . . They are desperately pulling me in different directions. I feel so alone and scared.

I can't work due to health and I feel useless and worthless. I feel it just adds wood to my depression fire. I want to help my family, but there are times I'm just too tired.

I'm afraid I will never be successful with what I want to do, which is write.

I just feel all over the place. I'm not sure what to DO? I don't feel my therapist is doing much help

@Rebekahwriter13

Dear Rebeka, I am sincerely sorry for the traumatic experience you had caused by the loss of a loved one and I imagine it was also traumatic to hear that that loved one cheated on you. No matter what, cheating is not right and it is not your fault in any way. I am glad you were there for him when he needed you.

I know you are going through anxiety, physical health problems and depression(from low self-esteem to loneliness to traumatic experiences) are making things incredibly hard for you to have a positive outlook on the two things you want to achieve in your life, which is to get that special someone and have a career in writing.

Although these feelings are clouding your judgment and optimism and perhaps making you confused, you have nothing to be confused about. You need positive reinforcement and you need to accept that the past is the past and unfortunately you do not have the power to change the past. You do however have the ability to drastically change and shape up your future/destiny by every decision you make in the present.

I am also sorry that you are not getting the proper and appropriate help from your therapist to exercise positive reinforcement and acceptance to better cope with your situation and be able to get back into the real life as the strong woman you once were, but just because one person couldn't help doesn't mean no one else can.

I highly encourage that you persist with your brave movement in seeking help to further your coping with your trauma, anxiety and physical health. We at 7 cups are here to help you 24/7 and hope that you find a listener right for you at www.7cups.com/BrowseListeners,

Although it is harder to find the right therapist, if you think your current therapist is doing much to help, we don't encourage continuing meaningless sessions.

You can always contact me and I will get back to you as soon as I am available.

Best wishes,

Prio, Listener of the 7 Cups Verified Active Listeners Team.
