Work Anxiety
I am anxious about returning to work. I am a teacher so I’ve had the summer off. The summer has been wonderful! But know I have to go back to work and I don’t want too. I love the kids and the coworkers but I strongly dislike the parents I work with.

I don't work with parents, but for sure there are many things I dislike and wish to avoid. Unfortunately, there is no way around it most of the time, so I always tell myself that if I have to do it anyhow, why not do it happily? Maybe you can try to think about it this way, and I hope it makes you feel better :)

I can understand how you feel and it's particularly hard to return to work after a nice long vacation! I would try to regain my momentum and concentration by using pomodoro technique, by asking yourself to work for 15 to 25 minutes and then take a small break, and then gradually increase the concentration time to 45 minutes or so. Understand that you are just returning to work and be very kind to yourself. With baby steps I trust that you will be able to regain your momentum and concentration soon.
I am glad that you love the kids and your coworkers, and I understand that dealing with parents can be difficult. Try to set up reasonable goals around dealing with parents and break up the goals in small achievable tasks. Have you also tried to talk with your coworkers about dealing with parents? Maybe they can also share with you some tips.
Good luck with returning to work. I wish you a lot of success. Do return to this site and let us know how it goes and if there is anything that we can support further. 🙂
