faking it?
i was first diagnosed with ptsd and madd (mixed anxiety depressive disorder) in 2017 after the death of my mother and sexual assault from my uncle. i know my diagnoses are real, but for years now i've been thinking to myself, "i could just be faking this. i can stop sulking and force a big smile on my face, no problem. this isn't real." does anyone else experience this sort of imposter syndrome-type mindset?
I guess you might unconsciously try to tell yourself that it can't be true (because it's too painful to face it), this then causes this mindset. This mindset gets confirmation by being exposed to media, as in media you sometimes hear about reports of people who unlike you do fake PTSD for insurance purposes/financial gains, that's how I would explain your mindset
Taping up a leak is gonna fix it temporarily. But it would only make things worse because it creates a connection in your brain and turns into a cycle that is very difficult to get out of.
