Attention-the good bad & ugly
So the internet is loaded w/ tips on getting attention just about everywhere you go & so is just about everyone I meet. I think I got that covered w/ my inherent awkwardness. People ask how does she do it. Unwillingly. I used to be decent at the art of invisibility but now I'm tryna start my career & filling out apps isn't enough to get a job. They say ppl get 99% of jobs through networking. People teach you to own the room, make an impression ect. There's gotta be another way though-how to get people to notice just the things you want. I want a job w/o the popularity. I can't focus when everyone's staring at me, judging my weird quirks, making fun of me, using me as their scapegoat cuz well I'm weird & people would believe it. I'm most productive in the back of the room taking it all in w/o owning it. It freaks me out when everyone knows who I am & I don't like starting anything panicked. I bet I'm not the only person who's thought about this & I just wanted to start a thread for sharing ways to get that little bit of attention for your work that you need w/o having to play the rest of the attention game
Hello! I completely understand where you are coming from because I feel like I'm sometimes shy as well when it comes to work and school. Performing better, whether it would be in school or the workplace, when you are in the back definitely doesn't make you any less valuable to your job or intelligent. Those who are more on the shy and quiet side can sometimes come up with the most extravagent ideas for a company!
