Being self conscious
Hi, I’m a teen and recently I’ve been having trouble being relaxed in certain social situations and being overly conscious about everything I do. It’s become really hard because I can’t walk in public now without overanalysing how I walk. Online school is also hard and every time I speak in class I have to calculate everything I say otherwise I stutter/freeze up. Being put on the spot is hard for me. I also get v anxious when meeting friends because I feel conscious every time I speak and end up not speaking at all. Any tips please?
Thank you for sharing this with us here.
@Moonlibra18 Hey there <3 I know exactly how you feel. For a whole entire year, maybe close to 16 months, I was like this. It's so tiring to have to rethink what you did and what you're doing and what you're going to do every second. I can't say for sure that this will help you, but what I did was I tried to find the root of my issues — why was I acting like this? I found out that, for me, it was because of a certain group of people at my school whom I felt were also constantly judging me for my every move.
After identifying the issue, I spoke to some of my close friends about it, and they were a big part of me feeling more self-confident again! If you can find someone you know in real life to help you with your issue, no barriers or walls, that would be very helpful.
Anyway, with my friends' help, I managed to distance myself from the group of people around whom I felt uncomfortable. For you the reason might be different, but whatever it is, I recommend finding an effective way to stop giving it power.
Finally, after I found the root of my issue, I started focusing on myself and self-improvement. Some easy ways to do this are picking up new hobbies or continuing old ones, reading more books, and just looking forward instead of at your feet all the time. This helps get from a low place to a better one, where you're more resilient, confident, and less likely to take a mental blow.
This whole process has taken a year, and I'm only halfway through. I still get weird about myself like that sometimes. But I think if you stick to it, you'll find yourself in a better headspace and with your mind at ease.
I hope this helped! I know it's likely that our experiences are totally different, and this isn't much guidance, but I hope you can take the spirit of this message and figure out a way to make it work for you <3.

I also feel the same way as you quite alot recently. I think affirmation might work. positive affirmation like "I embrace who I am, I love who I am, it's totally fine to be myself", it helps to battle out the negative thoughts regarding self-image.
Also, breathing helps, sometimes we forget, i forget often do, but breathing do help to regain focus and calm the mind and ease anxiety.
Hope this helps, i've been there as well and I think many also struggle with self-consciousness so you're not alone on this.
Hello...
I am relatively new to this space. I have had a long experience with depression and social withdrawl. As I am gradually healing, realizing there is an unintended side effect of being self conscious. Particularly meeting old associates and people in authority. Being self conscious keeps your brain already on alert mode and then if the conversations don't turn up as expected, anxiety hits hard. Any suggestions on tackling that ?
