Cyberbullying

I've been overthinking something going on in an online community I used to be in. I was in a League of Legends Discord server & a lot of people bullied me... I felt bad & the owner started making fun of me behind my back, calling me toxic & negative when all I wanted was to make friends. They demodded me & told me to leave. They made fun of me after I left, I know since a friend showed me the conversation. I've been afraid to tell my mother people are bullying me online, because I shouldn't let it get to me but it does. I have really bad anxiety from this, I couldn't sleep the other night & I feel like I can't move on when I spent so much time in that community.

If this happens again, please reach out to a live listener so that you can chat with them. Even though we are bombarded with constant Internet-related social activity, it doesn't mean that you have to be a part of it. Shut off the computer for a day (or more if you can), and reflect on everything that was said. Did you say something that offended someone? Do they want someone to pick on? What is the source of the conflict? My recommendation is to meditate or pray. Relax and let the understanding come to you.

Even though some Listeners on 7 Cups may, and are helpful, I would never dump anyone who asks me or needs support from me to a listner without trying to support them first.

I am just a member, not a listener, but you are not alone here. We are family on 7 Cups, and we are ALL here to support you!

I agree, but we are speaking to a message that occurred in January of this year. I wouldn't 'dump' someone off on someone else. In the event this user ever comes back to 7cups, months, years later, and we are at work at the time, then it would be better that they can talk to someone live? rather than wait during a time which they don't have?

That's not fair to me. Neither you are I can be online 24x7, some people have emergencies, and they may have an absolute need to talk to someone right now (and not 10 months later).

You are who you are ... them bullying you for being female is certainly not your fault, and I highly disgree that it was anything you said or did. People need tostart accepting others for who they are ...

A lot of my support on 7 Cups was found on the forums, and also on feeds, and a little bit from listeners (who came to me, not vice versa) ... so please give the forums a try first before the listeners, in my opinion.

Abby, this was a post from 10 months ago. The member probably (based on previous experiences) isn't around. I agree with you that the forums provide more support than the listeners, but you and I can't be online 24x7. For example, neither of us was able to answer this person 10 months ago.

If someone needs to speak in real time with someone else, they are better talking to someone on live, if they can't wait for a response.

For what it is worth, I agree with you that we get better support from forums and feeds. My concern is that if someone is in crises and needs an immediate person to talk to, then the chat is a better option, or they should call 911.

I didnt see the date either.

That being said ... if you posted that you had a tough day at work and I simply replied with Maybe you should talk to a Listener. or I recommend a therapist., how would that make you feel?

I will take the feedback as constructive. Personally, I would feel like I had options if someone told me that. I'm not a therapist, and I can't be online all the time. So, I can't commit to an instant reply, if one was needed or expected. Some people have a tone of urgency or extreme pain and might need immediate interaction. That was my intent to offer options/channels for someone to get help in real time. Some issues are also outside of the scope of peer support, and this is covered in the listener training. The training says to refer someone to a therapist if the issues exceed what the listener can't or shouldn't handle. I will work harder to show more sensitivity, listening, and understanding. Thank you.

@Darkseed

You're welcome.

I'm feeling down about all of this so I'm going away for awhile.
