I find this quite an accurate account of my individual experience of anxiety! It's astounding how common it actually is among people. 3 out of the five people in my house all have or have had social anxiety

For me, I didn't worry about what people thought of me and I didn't over think or assume the worst in everything. I would literally just get the anxiety symptoms or have full on panic attacks, often for no reason at all. It was usually a social thing though, the feeling of embarrassment was no longer tolerable, it would kill me with anxiety. I would stutter and develop a rash which made people think there was something wrong with me. All of it started from nowhere. I'm a confident person too. Only medication controlled and stopped some of it. Now I feel human again, a person who can control their emotions and physical reactions. Embarrassment is now just embarrassment, like it was before, not a trigger for a panic attack.
