So I have anxiety, depression and OCD. I feel like its getting worse as I get older. I usually don't leave my house because I'm not comfortable around people and I don't have anywhere to go unless I go to school and also I don't have friends. I've been bullied since the moment I started school to the day I dropped out. (I've recently signed up for online schooling.) So for the last few months I haven't left my house because I don't feel right. I don't know how to explain it but I just don't feel like myself anymore. I feel more nervous and I always feel sick. I've been to the doctors and they told me that nothing is wrong with me but I feel like there is something wrong with me. I've spent a lot of time on Google trying to fix myself but I can't find anything. I would go see a therapist but I don't have a lot of money. I don't really have anyone to talk to about my problems. I've tried talking to my mom but she doesn't understand me and I feel like she's given up on me because every time I try to tell her how I feel she kinda throws her hands up in the air and sighs like she's exhausted or annoyed. I really hate being mentally ill. By the way I'm not on any medications because the doctor doesn't think I need them. So anyways I'm just wondering has anyone else gone through something like this where they don't feel like their normal self? And how did you fix yourself? Also how does everyone else cope with thier aniexty, depression and OCD? I usually just do yoga to calm myself or listen to music.

Hi. I feel the same as you. I have been suffering from anxiety since february. When I first had anxiety, I didnt know anything about that so I worried and worried and that caused panic attacks. I know how you feel, this is like the worst thing that has happened in my life and I am too fed up of this. I was worst the first months, then, I received help from a therapist but it hasn't helped so much because although I improved, I am worse again. Right now. Yesterday I had a panic attack and it just feels like I'm going to die. Although I'm as bad as you my advice is: try to keep your mind busy. Don't think about it over and over again. That is the worst thing you can do. And I know it is impossible for you!! But try, be positive, and of course, keep yourself busy doing something. Do you have any hobbies? I do. I really like drawing, and that helps a lot when I want to relax. But yeah, I hope that you get better. By the way, it's nice to know that I'm not the unique person who feels like that in the world!! Regards. :P

I don't know if these count as hobbies but I like to read and play video games.

By the way thanks, I hope you get better too :) I'm hoping that one day I won't be mentally ill or at least have some kind of control over it. I have a bit of control over my depression, its just mainly my anxiety and OCD that bother me.

I don't feel like myself. I am no longer care free. I'm tired of lies and being disappointed by family and in my relationships. Disappointed in myself for not staying strong. My goal was to start over and I did, but another lie and disappointment has me falling apart again.

I've been disappointed by so many people that I've started to just expect that everyones gonna disappoint me sooner or later. I'm kinda numb to it. But I know how you feel. It's hard to find good people these days.

Hi @TheDarkSide,

Sorry to hear that you're having such a rough time. Anxiety, depression, and OCD, often come as a package deal. As if one wasn't enough to deal with!

We have self help guides on anxiety and depression here at 7 Cups of Tea, so I'll focus on your question about OCD.

OCD is highly treatable. It's great that you have a few strategies to ease your anxieties, such as yoga and music, but these won't do much to help with your OCD in the long run. The sooner you can tackle your OCD, the better.

It sounds harsh, but the best way to deal with your OCD is to face your obsessions/fears (in manageable doses) and resist performing your compulsions. This is called exposure response prevention (ERP). It's best if you can get professional support for ERP, but if you have to go it alone, take it slow and record your progress to track how you're doing. For example, on your first day, you might Google an illness and skim through one link about it (if your obsessions are about getting ill). After doing that, observe your anxiety rising and resist your compulsions (e.g. hand washing, counting, sorting) until the anxiety fades on its own. Very gradually increase whatever it is that triggers your obsessions and you will be able to make progress, much like lifting weights.

However you choose to address your issues, we're all here for you :)
