I don’t know how to make friends
its hard for me to talk to people and I generally don’t even understand how to make friends. I hate small talk, but isn’t it a necessary stage in order to get a friend?

Yes, small talks can feel pointless. But you can build meaningful conversation by talking about things that both of you enjoy. Take tiny steps. First, try to interact with one person for a short period. Reflect on how you feel about that and build conversations you like.
Be yourself and share your genuine interests. Most importantly, other people like to be heard, as we do. So, pay attention to them, which will make you more likable.
Instead of forcing ourselves, I think our true interests will draw us to the group where we belong. Treat people like you want to be treated. It worked for me every single time.

Online is a good way to make friends, if you wanna do that. Find a forum/chat/etc. about something you’re interested in. It’s much easier to talk about stuff when you’re interested in it.
As you talk to more and more people, your social skills will improve.

Maybe like comment sections of YouTube videos about topics you're interested in or like topic based discord servers? There's also Amino (it's an social media app that's categorized by diff topics) idk I'm also inexperienced with online friends but there's a starting point at least
