I'm lost without anxiety

November 27th, 2016

I don't want to get rid of my social anxiety. It's such a big part of me, and I can't remember a time when I didn't have it. Getting rid of it would mean losing a big part of myself. I'm afraid I won't be myself without it.

Has anybody felt similar? I don't know what to think anymore...

I've felt the exact same Bear. It's something you can always resort to. It's been there for so long you cannot even imagine life without anxiety. heart

@WhiteBearClub Hi There White bear, I think what you have written a lot of people may be able to identify with, whether this be to do with social anxiety or some other issue that has long been dominant in someones life. It can be extremely frightening to think of what life would be like without this, as it has affected your life for so long and in so many ways and its hard to imagine what will go in its place. The only thing I can say is that whilst this is very much an issue you are deeply affectived by, it does not make you who you are, it is one aspect of you, one thing that yes has left such a big impact on you. As someone once said to me, you are not just a label, you are not just a diagnosis or an issue, you are still a person. Just take each step one at a time, little by little. Good luck

you are not just a label

It's still hard for me to believe that, but I'll do my best!

I feel similarly. Letting go of my anxiety and depression seems so hard. They're familiar, and also, in order to be "better," it feels like that means I would have been wrong to feel that way all of these years. I don't want to be wrong.
