Interviews
I'm a maker not a faker. Do you think it's ok to treat an interview like a regular convo & answer questions like you're talking to a friend rather than overthinking everything? Anytime I try to curate an image it doesn't really work
If you think that is helpful, then go for it. It's different for everyone. But you also have to be aware how a regular conversation differs from an interview (formality), but yes, the key is to be yourself. It's nerve wrecking, but they chose you for a reason. You not only meet the qualifications, but you sound interesting to them. So in a way, you can also even picture it like a first date maybe? I find I'm nervous for interviews because I believe that I'm not good enough, so thoughts can really get in the way. Be yourself and they will see you for who you are, not who you're trying to be
@Helena Thanks for the kind words. I come off so weird when I talk formally. Not that I don't come off weird in regular situations. I just feel like I sound like an anime villain or something haha. Idk how ppl talk in those situations irl. I learn by example. Too bad I can't watch a bunch of ppl interview haha. I come off different fo sho but sometimes in a scary way. I'm awful at reading ppl. I tend to assume they hate me/want me to leave/think I'm annoying when they don't. I'm so clueless. Never been on a date haha. Can't tell if someone's hitting on me & don't care coz I'm not looking anyway. Some ppl flirt in pretty creepy ways & it's funny when you're oblivious to it & they're like stumped haha. I'm laughing uncontrollably at like everything until my face hurts. I'm a smart productive person but I don't think I come off that way in social settings. I come off quirky at best. Not good for interviews. I have a lotta anxiety & psych myself out especially when I try to follow more social rules. I tend to come off better when I try to be chill but sometimes I feel like ppl get annoyed. Ugh this is way more stressful than it should be haha.
@doublelife I totally understand where you're coming from when you say these things. You say you learn by example, have you tried perhaps looking into sample interview questions and responses for the type of position you're seeking? Sometimes thinking ahead of time responses to likely questions can help us feel more confident in ourselves. Practicing in the mirror might also help (if you think so). Let me know what you think about this
