Introducing myself - Support needed for anxiety
Hey there, I hope this post doesn't come off as pretentious, I just want everyone to know who I am, how I came to be and what im leaving with.
I'm Jeremy, 23 from Canada.
Im married to a nurse. Unfortunately, so does not know how to help me deal with my anxiety, nor does she understand it. Not her fault, it can just be difficult for others.
I first had the smallest trace of anxiety or nerves when I was 6 or 7 and I described the sensation as "my stomach feels milky" it was early anxiety, or stomach knots.
When I was 16 I was in an extremely mentally and emotionally abusive relationship. On top of that she cheated on me (and many other times on other lovers after and before, so im told). She was certainly not a good person, and this is where I believe my nervous disposition came from. I was unable to eat and lost a lot of weight (I was skinny to begin with). Eventually after suffering from it for a while, I was able to eventually go on Celexa 20 mg. It worked pretty good.
Was on it was a long time, until relatively recently I wanted to wean off and try to handle it on my own (unhappy with the side effects of years of celexa as well)
Im doing alright most days.
Im a certified human services counsellor and work with adults who are physically and cognitively delayed. I love my job, and for the most part that is when my anxiety is at its lowest.
I also work directly with a very negative, bitter, condescending woman. Shes full of hate and spite and is very passive aggressive. She's been hauled into the office many many times but it doesnt change her. Having to work with her 37 hours a week 47 weeks a year takes a toll on my overall well being. Really brings me down. Shes been confronted many times, but you cant change a mean spirited person.
Recently I just published my first book; a collection of short horror stories. (I will tell you which book it is later on if I feel comfortable)
The feedback has been 95% positive. Last week I got my first negative review, like bad bad bad, not one kind word, and it crushed me, but I put on a brave face and pretended it didnt hurt.
I'm also having to deal with (and this is where I dont want it to sound pretenteous) but my new-found fame. Im gaining momentum and recognition and it kinda scares me.
Basically im looking for friends, kindness and support to help me deal with these issues. I of course am always ready to hear another person too, especially if they are going with what im going through.
Sending Friendly Canadian Vibes,
-Jeremy
@PenFeather - i have always been a little anxious, a little worried. for whatever reasons. i was "sensitive" my dad yelled too much, whatever.
but i get it... i know what it's like to feel shaky and nervous and unsure.
one thing is it's partly biological and we can get more skilled at feeling it without going off the rails.
but also just talking can help, and empathy from and to others. we're here for you!
