New job
Hi everyone feeling very very very socially anxious about my new job I keep castastrophizing…..
Congrats on your new job, and I commend you for your insights into the feelings that you are experiencing.
Thinking can skew every experience. Glad you have the sense to know that "catastrophizing" can minimize your achievements. It can bring doubts about yourself, even when you are more than qualified in your field or knowledgeable in your discipline.
Realizing that self-doubts are inaccurate is the first step to removing this barrier from your success in your new position.
Additionally, studies in psychology shows, everyone has a bias about their own abilities. Especially people who are highly skilled in a specific area have more doubts than less experienced people (Dunning-Kruger Effect).
Even so, insight is the grand equalizer – we all have the insight to know when overthinking occurs by the feeling of anxiety, for example. On the other hand, when wisdom is flowing, it always results in a calm feeling. Many refer to this understanding as "being in the zone."
Furthermore, anxious feelings tend to be fear-based. In this sense, fear is misleading.
FEAR = False Experiences Appearing Real
You are the decider about which thought you make real or discard as illusionary. The more you trust your inner wisdom, the more it can rise above the overwhelming states.
May your journey in life and work be well and full of enjoyment! 😊
