Subconscious Social Anxiety
Hey, new here.
It seems I’m the only person in the world who experiences this.
I don’t have negative or anxious thoughts. I only get bodily anxiety. Heart pounding, profuse staying, voice suddenly becomes quiet and extremely high pitched and strained , mind goes blank, I suddenly become indecisive, permission-seeking, confirmation-seeking, etc etc.
I do exposures, breathing exercises, grounding techniques, positive affirmations, etc etc.
I don’t know what to do. I just want to be myself but my body won’t allow that I guess…
This just might be what finally gets me going back to negative thoughts. Every site and group I’ve tried, no one knows how to help this. They just tell me to keep doing what I’m already doing but it only worked for my depression and conscious anxieties, not. I can’t afford therapy, and I can’t just wait because I need to work. I unfortunately need to at least get the anxiety symptoms to reduce to a semi-manageable level (mainly the ones that affect how I actually talk to people tbh) so I can work, so I can actually get help.
Any ideas, tips, advice? Thank you in advance
Sorry, I should also add that if anyone has any questions, I’m more than happy to help answer them! ♡
@ConstantFear Hi, I have read you and the only thing that comes to my mind is that somehow our body stores trauma and also when we are suppressing emotions or situations that we do not want to deal with, the body screams or shows us that something is not really okay but in our mind it may seem as okay…
so the only thing i can say that may help you…is to look around you, is there anything in your life that you are avoiding or that it used to cause you pain but you somehow suppressed that?, is there any history in your family with genetic nervousness?, any trauma that you are unaware of? There has to be something that triggers the anxiety in the body. Usually it comes from the mind, it doesn’t have to be negativity..simply stress, emotional suppression, etc can trigger that in your body… also lack of vitamins and hormonal changes can be too. In any way, your body is telling you something in you have to listen to see from where is coming from.
I hope this helps in any way.
I feel lost. Completely alone (not lonely).
i honestly don’t think I can change that until I figure out how.
otherwise everyday is just great and all but…
@ConstantFear In addition to that..you said you were doing breathing exercises.. this changes the nervous system and if you are not doing them properly or under proper guidance it can have these effects, this is why yoga or any of these exercises have to be done properly with guidance. What kind of breathing exercises are you doing? Are you doing a complete course with someone? We are used to breathing in a certain way, physiologically our breath is our emotions… if you disrupt breathing and you start breathing in a certain way..oxygen gets into different part of the body releasing trauma or triggering body anxiety or numbness Or anything! try to find out when all this happened? Did it happen when you started the breathing exercises or after? Etc..
I just do the diaphragm breaths when I’m alone (as deep breaths can apparently worsen anxiety) and I do normal length calm breaths when I’m outside my house.
i noticed it helps with shorter interactions, but in longer interactions I suddenly stop being able to feel how I’m breathing so I’m only able to guess my breathing then becomes normal anxious breathing, I don’t know.
i promise the breathing is not causing this 🤣 I’d be heartbroken if that were the case though.
back when the dpdr was sever, I tried deep breaths and learned never again so I’m VERY careful 😭
