how do I stop overthinking
tomorrow I have an assembly during 2nd period and I know no one in that class especially since it’s an elective class and there is mostly all upperclassmen. so when my grade gets called for the assembly I have no clue who to sit with. i could probably ask to meet up with some of my friends but the thing is, they all have a bunch of other friends they can go to and sit with but I have no one, especially since my bestfriend and I aren’t talking anymore. and I’m so nervous and panicking so much that I’m about to break down crying and I’m trying to distract myself but it’s not working. I have no clue what to do because I know I’m not going to be able to sleep tonight or continue on with my night without worrying. I know this seems like not a big deal because I know it’s not and it bothers me so much that little things like this always always get to me.

How are things going in the end? it must be hard to face such a new environment by yourself. Wish things are going well. For stopping overthinking, deal with your automatic thought.
In "Automatic Thought", your brain drags you through several scenarios which don't fit the facts. Doing the thought record may help this situation. These involve challenging thinking, identifying types of anxious thoughts, and forming alternative thoughts. These three steps can help to break this spiral.
1. First, write down the statement. Get a closer look at how you think. For example, I can not make it since I know no one there.
2. Then, rationalized the thought. By challenging your thinking, you will find out if this specific thought is rational or not. For example, Someone I don't know is nice to me.
3. Finally, replace the statements with positive statements. For example, I will try my best to fit in.
Welcome to let me know if this works for you.
It is a big deal, trust me. I struggle with the same thing. My first week of high school I was scared to sit on the bus because I feared thag whoever I sat next to wouldn't like me or would want to move away from me. The only escape for me was my books, or my phone. When you're I'm those situations find something to focus on, that might take away from the anxiety of having to sit next to someone you don't know. :)
