Communication issues
Hi, I'm a newbie, I'm 42 and only recently discovered i am Autistic during therapy. I have always struggled with communication but i didn't know why. I was shy!! I had social anxiety as i got older. I'm really struggling to communicate with colleagues at work. First job due to life circumstances and I masked well at first, literally I suppose as we all had masks on and I actually found that easier. But now, Little by little i am becoming isolated from colleagues. I don't know how to initiate conversation, I don't know when to chip in to the flow of the conversation. And because I have become quiet people just think "ohh she mustn't want to speak to us". Not alot of people will start a conversation with me. And if they do. After a few seconds of taking to them I see a look come across their face as if they think hhmm something is odd here. I feel it and I feel like, here we go again. Then I just shut down and I can't get a sentence out. Is it a good idea to explain that I have communication difficulties? Or is it just a case if accepting who I am and being "the quiet person" sorry its long

It's a bold and positive step that you've identified and embraced your identity as an autistic individual.
