Depression and Autism

Hello, I'm just feeling a bit depressed today, I'm just reflecting on my time in high school, and I'm happy to say that I graduated from there. But everything I'm thinking about is how isolated I am from my friends, and I'm mostly shy around them. I have autism as well, making it even more difficult. I am trying to not think about high school after graduating, but it is coming back to me. I'm about to attend college now, so I'm not sure what to expect.

Starting college can feel overwhelming, but it's also an opportunity for new beginnings and experiences. You'll have the chance to meet new people and make new friends, and you might find that college offers a more supportive and inclusive environment than high school did. Remember that it's okay to take things one step at a time and to reach out for support if you need it. College can be a fresh start, and you have the opportunity to explore new interests, discover new passions, and connect with others who share your experiences.

I think the older you get the less shy you will become. You want to be with people that see you for who you are. Rejection can be painful but if you reframe it to: thank goodness they showed their true colors before I invested a lot of myself in them.

there will be people at college that you can relate to. If you reverse your approach so that you meet as many people as you can, then you will uncover your people sooner.

meetup app is useful. FB groups can help as long as they actually meet in person.

if you look for common ground and friendship then a lot of other things can fall into place.
