Everything is too much
I'm a 28 year old, female. I just want to point out that i have no diagnosis of Autism, ADHD or etc but definitely consider myself to be neurodivergent.
This year has been tough with my Mum (we live in the same house).
Long story short, more recently I've been told by my Mum that my small (sensory) accommodations will not be respected and that I'm not allowed to talk about my neurodivergent stuff ever again.
Yet all my Mum does is talk about her 'stuff' and when i do try and talk, about anything, she starts talking about HER experiences.
I'm noticing that it's irritating me even more now because i just have to 'deal with it' to keep the peace.
I can't believe that my Mum thinks we're fine in our Mother-Daughter relationship when this is emotional abuse, right?
There's a LOT more to my overall life circumstances, however i just thought I'd share this specific area of distress.
I'm overall constantly miserable and feel distressed all the time. What I've shared above has definitely added another layer to these intense feelings.
Note that i can be quite delayed in touching back on posts I've made. However i just wanted to write this up before bed, otherwise I'd never get anything off my chest! Or at the very least share this with someone.
Thank you for being here.
Hi there. This sounds incredibly difficult for you, not being allowed to talk to your mum about your neurodiversity. Can I ask why you feel this is? I know sometimes parents don’t want to think their child is ‘different’ and can find it hard to accept.
In the meantime please be assured we are here for you.
