@StressedGirl It sounds like you're feeling frustrated with your mental health nurse's response to your struggles related to autism and change. It's completely understandable that you would want them to be more attentive and understanding of your unique challenges. It can be tough when you're not getting the support you need. If you'd like to share more about your experiences or feelings, please feel free to do so. I'm here to listen and support you. 💜

I'm sorry to hear this, it is horrible to have our struggles dismissed. Have you tried talking to her about how you feel in regards to this? 💜

@teenytinyturtle Tt'lly! :) She shld just be a shopkeeper and beep stuff or smthng - no social relation skills at all :/ Srsly.

Anyway, good news is I dn't need a mental health nurse (I dn't go to 'enough autistic groups tho' she told me that and yeah, you go to choir when I told her abt that one but act'lly it's not social Rachael kinda thng).  Oh yeah and I dn't do mch.  Just have a whirring brain all the time rcng thghts that cme with that (bng invstgd for ADHD alongside my autism diagnosis I have).

And all that jazz - impulsivity desires which I can curb but badly, sexual, spending, eating impulses, intr'ppting and all of that.

I do everything and it was never good enough for her like it wasn't for lots of people who thankfully are out of my life now (teacher at primary school, 'friends' at school, random people).

Yeah, it's been weird.

She was seriously rude abt my overthinking trait from autism - 'you think too much', EX-CUUUUSE ME that is SO dismissive to anybody that struggles with overthinking particularly if it's cmng frm autism.

Gnrlly, trtd me like idiot, who can't make decisions.  bsclly told me I'll never do anything bcos of my autism - work or anything like that - I will - it's gnna take time.

Didn't take my serious medication side effects seriously - trigger warning: suicidal impulses etc etc.

Tot'lly rude abt my potential DCD/dysgraphia, dyslexia and dyscalculic traits.

I'm highly dyscalculic, I know I am and DCD can be quite bad (r'lly she was rude abt DCD why can't you even tie your shoelaces yet or something.

I challenged my anxiety so much - when I was 15/16 I cldn't go out hse I was so worried - now I can go sme placs - to lcl shps on own or walk in park even tho my sense of direction is abs non-existent.

Dyscalculic is hard.  Not being able to locate medication, when to order, when to press bell on bus, tell time etc etc.

Also, obs my OCD traits are bcos of my autism oh yeah cos abs EV.RY.ONE now who has autism has OCD now.  WHAT? While they are a common co-occurence it abs does not follow.

When I contest anything bcos it's FA.CTU-ALLY INCORRECT I'm wrong for bng so diffrent 1 in 5 is not so different (that is the neurodivergence rate).

My social worker isn't much better, I'm emotionally abused incredibly at home at times and the social worker's sposed to be reviewing stuff instead it's all negative.

The only support person who has been an AB.SOOOLUTE BEEE.ACON OF HOPE in this is my INCREDIBLE support worker :) who I have to finish with.

She at least told me in advance of the change, cos I rlly interpret lots of thngs as chnge.

Mental health nurse said I just need to learn to deal with change OH. MY. GOODNESS.  who does that - WHO. On. EARTh. IN THEIR. RIGHT. MINF. WOULD. ACT'LLY. say that to anyone let alone someone with autism.  HOW dismissive is that? (Imagine it all in cap locks, the glory ;) nah, I just said that cos I meant do that, imagine it in cap locks cos I got bored of writing in that.

Awesome private therapist too (I live in UK so usually go through funded NHS).

GP told me I don't have ADHD cos I don't seem hyperactive.  My mind, woman, my mind!!!!

It's all there so plain to see.

Also, told by mental health nurse and other GP to just manage the symptoms, that's what I need to do.

Had to keep phoning up and my OCD traits were/are not taken seriously 'bcos I have autism'.   I mean c'mon! It's 2023!

If you know of positive places like this one but for people with dysgraphia, ADHD, dyslexia, DCD, dyscalculia please let me know.
