Living with autism and that’s perfectly okay
Hi there everyone:) I just thought I’d share something and perhaps give some inspiration to my fellow autistic buddies. I was born with autism, and trust me, my childhood, teenage years and even adulthood was challenging in so many ways. I couldn’t explain or understand the things I was going through, and unfortunately the people around me suffered for it too. Despite the challenges, confusion, lack of social life and being severely bullied, I worked my way through and achieved so many of my life goals and dreams. From being a fashion designer, I jumped careers and became a guidance counselor and mental health professional, and I now own my own online practice so I can help others excel just as I did. I understand the challenges of being autistic, and sometimes it feels like we’re never going to accomplish, succeed or be normal like other people. But if we truly take the time to understand ourselves, explain it to others, and be unafraid to go out there and make something of our lives (stepping out of our comfort zones no matter how many mess up’s we make), we can accomplish anything and everything. Make no mistake, the challenges of being autistic come with me through life. I still have a short social battery life, I prefer my own company a lot of the time and I still get annoyed with information overload. But with the correct therapies and training, I’m able to tolerate more and these episodes don’t last as long as they used to. That’s how important therapy and mental health is, it can changed your life completely and will definitely make tasks easier. One of the reasons I studied psychology is because I wanted to understand myself better, but it opened up an entire career path for me and I never looked back. So to all my fellow auti buddies- don’t fight autism, embrace it! Because it makes us unique, interesting and we are certainly capable of achieving anything in life. Not one person in the world is perfect, and we’re all going through our unique challenges- the main thing is to never doubt yourself and no matter how many times you fall.. you need to pick yourself up and try again until you get it right. Have a blessed weekend everyone :)

Love that you were able to stay open to life's experiences despite dealing with the challenges you were facing. I imagine it feels like you were living in a world not meant to fully understand or support you and I'm glad you found a career where you can help transform other people's struggles into something more positive. I also love psychology and human behavior and find it fascinating to learn about myself and others. Very inspiring to hear your story ... thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much for your feedback Serene :) exactly, as a child I felt as if I’m either in the wrong place or the wrong community. It was almost impossible to make or keep friends in school, I couldn’t understand certain subjects no matter how much extra tuition I had and the bullying didn’t make it any better. But as I started traveling I experienced the same challenges and wondered why I wasn’t functioning or reacting like others. I was diagnosed when I was still a child, and once I started therapy at 18, it started making more sense as I started understanding the ins and outs of Autism.
