Want to connect with another autistic woman
Hi everyone,
So my therapist told me I should try to find and talk with another autistic woman as I'm trying to get my diagnosis. As most books and other thing talking about autism are written by men, it's hard to identify and find tips to handle better the way my brain works.

Hello and welcome. Just wanted to let you know that I am available to talk with you but I am not autistic. I will share with you that my adult son, almost 46 years old, was just diagnosed with autism last year when he was 45. I have been trying to learn more about autism so I can understand better and so I can help my son. If you have not heard of it there is a website called Autism Speaks that you may like to check out. It also has a support group as part of the site.
I hope you are able to find more autistic women who you can talk with. One thing that I have learned is that autism is more common in boys and men than females.

Actualy, that's what people though before, but lately, researchers tend to think that autism is as present in women as in men. The thing is that autism in women in often more hidden so there are more undiagnosed women, or even women that don't know even they have it, because our representation of autisme in the one of male autism.
